Plumbing problems are sure to happen. Even in newer homes, clogged drains or a water leak can show when you least expect it. These are the most common plumbing problems:

  • Clogged toilet
  • Clogged bath or shower drain
  • Jammed garbage disposal
  • Leaky faucets
  • Leaky pipes
  • Low water pressure
  • Running toilet
  • Sewage smell in home
  • Sewer system backup
  • Slow draining sink
  • Water heater repair

 Put Safety First

  • Turn off the water at the main valve. This will stop further water damage.
  • Assess the burst and the surrounding area to the best of your ability. If the pipe burst has occurred on an upper level, see if the water has already moved (or can move) to a lower level.
  • Turn off the electricity to the affected regions of your home. You cannot be “too safe” with this step; the combination of water and electricity can cause shocks, electrocution and even death. If you’re uncertain, shut down all the power.
  • Take photographs of the damage. Take a few minutes to take pictures or take pictures as you work. You will need them in the event you submit an insurance claim.
  • Higher water bills
  • Water pressure drop
  • Water heater issues
  • Stains and damp areas on ceilings and walls
  • Uneven water levels in toilets
  • Worsening leaks

Most homes use a traditional water heater that ranges in size from 20 to more than 80 gallons, fueled by natural gas, electricity, propane, or oil. Because they keep water in the insulated tank hot at all times, these systems consume energy around the clock.

Tankless water heaters reduce energy use and utility costs by heating water as needed, and have great longevity—up to 20 years—with routine maintenance.

Low water pressure can be caused by a malfunctioning shut-off valve, a pinched water line, or mineral deposits that have collected in older, galvanized pipes.

We do not recommend hot water to be any hotter than 120 degrees. Anything higher than that could become dangerous.

If your existing water heater is over 12 years old it may become calcified, make noises, leak, and become less efficient at heating your water. These are all indications that it’s time to replace your water heater.

Hard water is water with excess calcium and magnesium, while soft water is free from these harsh minerals that can damage your home and body.

Hard water contains dissolved and/or minute particles of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Residue of these minerals builds up in pipes, filters, and appliances and also leaves a film on your skin, glasses, and more. Water softeners remove these minerals to improve the feel, taste, color, and odor of your water.

Professional plumbers advise avoiding chemical drain cleaners. Not only are they toxic, but they can be very harsh to your pipes. The strong chemicals will cause your pipes to deteriorate from the inside out.
